Blog tour: Touch and Go by Mira Lyn Kelly

Touch & Go
Dare to Love # 2
By: Mira Lyn Kelly
Releasing February 17th, 2015

USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly cranks up the heat for two lifelong friends whose most secret longings come true in every delectable way.

Vivacious and successful, Ava Meyers is living her dream life, except for one thing: Ever since childhood, she’s been in love with her best friend . . . and she’s never admitted it. Back then, Sam Farrow was a damaged young man with a tough past. Now he’s supremely confident, super-sexy, and totally untouchable—until the night when Sam pretends to be Ava’s boyfriend to save her from some unwanted attention. In a moment of weakness, Ava finds out that a long friendship is no match for blistering sexual chemistry.

After years of denying his own feelings, Sam finds that one amazing night with Ava isn’t enough to chase away all the pent-up fantasies. So he proposes they spend a few weeks driving each other wild, exhausting their every desire, and then return to their perfect platonic relationship like nothing ever happened. But Sam’s plan has one fatal flaw: the part where they give each other up. Because the more they let go of their inhibitions, the more they’re tempted to never go back.

USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly grew up in the Chicago area and earned her degree in Fine Arts from Loyola University. She met the love of her life while studying abroad in Rome, Italy, only to discover he’d been living right around the corner from her back home. Having spent her twenties working and playing in the Windy City, she’s now settled with her husband in rural Minnesota, where their four beautiful children and naughty dog provide an excess of action and entertainment. When she isn’t reading, writing, or running to keep up with the family, she loves watching movies, blabbing with the girls, and cooking with her husband and friends.

Hello Mira Lyn! Welcome to Roberta’s Dreamworld and thank you for your time. First of all, tell us something about yourself, both as a writer and as a person.

Hi Roberta—it’s wonderful to be here. Okay, I think the easiest answer here is that I’m a chronic romantic—possibly to the point of having some psychological condition named after me. I’ve been in love with LOVE since I was watching Sesame Street as a kid marrying off my favorite colors and numbers. And being a writer gives me a handy outlet for my HEA fixation :-)

How/when did you realize you wanted to become a writer?

I discovered creative writing in High School, but I didn’t really see it as something I could DO until years later when a friend came to me for feedback on a book she’d written. I was so stunned this friend had done what I’d always wished I could…I mean she was just like me…except she’d actually DONE IT! A year later, I had too :-)

Let’s speak about “TOUCH AND GO”. We’ve read the synopsis but can you tell us a little more about what the book is about?

How about a little sneak peek?

(Sam is pretending to be Ava’s date to help her shake some unwanted attention):

Ava was giving it her college best, really she was, but there was no stopping the freak-out in progress.

Sam was kissing her.

His lips were on hers in a soft press that, based on its closed-mouth properties alone, should have been benign. But this was Sam. And he was in strict violation of a no-fly zone their friendship never breached. Sure, she and Sam were touchy-feely friends of the highest order. He always had an arm around her. Her legs draped over his. Something. She was a cuddler, so contact in and of itself was no big thing. But there were lines friends didn’t cross. Lines that started above the knee and ended bellow the belly button. Panty lines. Bust lines. And most importantly, lip lines. Which meant the intimacy of that taboo contact, even as chaste as it was—well, it was crossing wires Ava had spent twenty years trying to keep straight.

So the freak-out?

Yeah, it was on.

Because now how was she supposed to look at Sam’s hands without thinking of them warm at the sides of her face as he lowered his mouth to hers? How was she going to look into his eyes without seeing that last instant when they dropped to her lips? And how the heck was she supposed to look at that gorgeous, easy smile of his and hide the fact that after twenty years of wondering what his kiss would taste like, she wished the only one they were likely to share through the course of their entire lives had lasted just a little longer, gone a bit deeper, been a smidge more real?

How did you come up with the idea and how did you create the characters?

I’ve always been a sucker for Friends-to-Lovers because that’s the foundation for my real life happily ever after. I GET the risk that goes along with taking a friendship that is maybe the best you’ve ever had and asking it to become something more (PS- 15years in and a slew of kiddies later, totally worth the risk!!) So stories like this come to me with some frequency, lol. These particular characters though were seriously anxious to hit the page. So much so that they wouldn’t stop talking in my head while I was writing the first Dare To Love book, TRUTH OR DARE! Ava and Sam…they were chatty. And hot. And I just couldn’t wait to get to them!!

If you should describe your books in three words, what would you pick?

Sexy, Flirty, Fun.

Do you have any favorite authors and did they influence your choice of the genre?

I have TONS of favorites, but a few of the more recent would be… Suzanne Brockman, Megan Mulry, Kresley Cole, Lexi Ryan, Tessa Dare, Jessica Lemmon, and Kristan Higgans. As to early influences…I’m thinking Susan Issacs showed me that romance and humor ( and suspense ) could be a fantastic combination!

What else do you enjoy doing, when you’re not writing?

I’ve got four amazing kids that keep me running most of the time. But around their sports, school and social schedules, I do manage to scrape a few minutes together here and there, lol. #1 fave pastime: READING!! Also, I love big budget action thrillers at the movies, cooking with Mr. Kelly, baking with my girl, and this winter I’ve spent an absolutely insane amount of time putting an ice rink in our backyard—it is BADASS :-)

As a writer do you get support from your family and friends?

I absolutely do. My husband is always telling the guys at work about whatever new book I’ve got coming out (which is so funny, because most of those guys are NOT my target audience, lol) and the kids think it’s the coolest when they get to tell their teacher or the school librarian that I actually WRITE books like they have at the library…but for adults, lol!

What are your dreams and plans for your future as a writer?

To keep doing what I love to do! I’ve got enough stories in my head to last through this lifetime and the next. That said, as far as dreams go… I wouldn’t mind moving in next door to Ryan Gossling and having him over for coffee each morning because we were totally neighborly and he was good at talking out plot issues. He’d come shirtless, because…well just because. LOL you asked if I had a dream…there it is!!!

Would you like to say something to the readers to encourage them to read your books?

Hmm… okay if you’re a fan of the sizzly stuff and like a heart and soully story that makes you laugh and cry and sigh along the way… then my books might be for you! Hope you’ll give them a try :-)
And for more about me, my books and whatever else we’ve got going on, lol—don’t be a stranger… (see links below)
